1. How do I get a library card?
Come in to the library with the proper forms of ID and request a card at the Circulation Desk. Click on the Borrower Chart to see what forms of ID you will need to obtain a library card. After you fill out a short application, the staff will enter your information into the database and affix a barcode to your Richland ID or a paper library card.
2. Does the library have copies of textbooks?
Instructors can put personal/department owned textbooks on course reserves, which are housed at the circulation desk. However, it is not standard practice for Richland library to add textbooks to their collection.
3. May I use the library if I am not a student?
Yes, if you are not a student at Richland you can still use several library services, which are listed in the Borrower Chart.
4. How can I access the databases off-campus or from my laptop?
Off-campus access to the databases is available by logging in to myRichland and then clicking on the Library tab. Due to licensing, First Search is only available on campus.
5. Why won’t my public library card work at the Richland Community College library?
Richland shares resources with academic libraries instead of public libraries. The complete list of libraries where you can use your Richland library card is available here. To use the public libraries, contact your local public library for a card.
6. Is there a scanner that I can use in the library?
A sheet-fed scanner is located in C150 (computer lab), which will save files via flash drive or e-mail. There is no flat-bed scanner for books.
7. Where can I get citation help for my paper?
Librarians can assist with citations. Stop by the reference desk or e-mail your questions to askalibrarian@richland.edu.
8. How do I reserve a room for a study group or for myself?
You may request a study room reservation in person or over the phone. There is no guarantee that the specific room you want will be available, but we will do our best to accommodate you. During finals week rooms are reserved on a first-come, first-serve basis.
9. How long does it take to get books that I request through I-Share?
Generally it only takes 3-5 business days to receive I-Share books. Wait time will depend on the location of the lending library.
10. Do you have Wi-Fi in the library?
Yes, and throughout the campus.

12. Can I make photocopies? How much do they cost? Are they in color?
Photocopies can be made at $.10 per page, both in black and white and color. Prepaid print cards (purchased at the Business Services Window in Student Services) or coin feed are both accepted as payment for photocopies.
13. Can I print from LRC computers? How much for each page? Can I print out in color?
Printouts can be made at $.10 per page, both in black and white and color. We only accept prepaid print cards purchased at the Business Services Window in Student Services in denominations of $.50, $1.00, $2.00, or $5.00.
